Privacy Policy
AZEX is a browser extension that converts fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies directly from your toolbar. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and what is not collected.
1. Data Stored on Your Device
The Extension saves your preferences locally using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device and includes:
- Selected currency pair (from / to)
- Theme preference (Lumen or Vantablack)
- Dark mode and accent color settings
- Favorite and recent currency pairs
- A randomly generated, anonymous per-install identifier (UUID) used solely for analytics deduplication
This data is stored only on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the Extension or clear its storage.
2. Anonymous Usage Analytics
The Extension sends anonymous usage events to Google Analytics 4 via the Measurement Protocol (an HTTP POST request -- no remote script is executed). Events include actions such as opening the popup or switching themes. Each event is tagged with a random UUID that is not linked to your Google account, name, email address, or any other personal information.
These analytics exist solely to help the developer understand which features are used so the Extension can be improved.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
- Browsing history or the content of web pages you visit
- Financial account details or payment information
- Passwords or authentication credentials
- Your location, IP address, or device identifiers
4. Third-Party Services
The Extension contacts the following external services to deliver its core functionality:

Provides live fiat currency exchange rates (EUR, USD, GBP, etc.). -
api.coingecko.com
Provides live cryptocurrency prices (BTC, ETH, etc.). -
www.google-analytics.com
Receives anonymous usage events via the GA4 Measurement Protocol.
Each service is governed by its own privacy policy. We do not control how these third parties handle data on their end.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or transfer user data to any third party. Anonymous analytics data is shared with Google solely to improve the Extension and falls within Google Analytics' approved use cases.
6. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Extension after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
